Vandal - Interior

Hello New York! Glad to be in my city, where the night is always young and the food tastes better when you’re drunk. I’ve created a bucket list of some of the hottest locations to visit when you’re in NYC and tonight one of those locations is Vandal, known for its global street fair and street art located on Bowery street in the LES (Lower East Side) neighborhood of Manhattan. This experience was conjured up by the TAO group (Lavo, Tao) and Chef Chris Santos (Stanton Social, Beauty and Essex). Vandal opened its doors in the beginning of January filling the space of another popular location formerly known as The General by EMM group (Catch, Lexington Brass).

Vandal - Food

The menu is updated on a monthly basis always changing and improving to patrons liking, resulting in a fresh and rejuvenating experience time and time again; whether you like spicy food or something sweet it’s here just for you. The Rockwell Group designed the space spanning 22,000 square feet and multiple levels. Did I mention the street art work? 7 internationally known street artists are vandals were commissioned to create the art found in the restaurant space. Heading by the well known British street artist HUSH. Six (6) other street artist was commissioned. Shepard Fairey (Obama hope poster), Tristan Eaton, Eelus, Veils, Will Barras and Apexer. As soon as you walk in you can’t help but look at the gigantic “Hot Pink Break Dancing Bunny” you just want to take a picture with it. The bunny was done in a Krylon spray paint color called ICY GRAPE now discontinued due to its popularity amongst “VANDALS” aka taggers/graffiti artists. This trending art work has been seen everywhere on instagram and even celebrities has taken picture’s with this sculpture by Rockwell Group.

Vandal - Bunny

The atmosphere of the place makes you feel like you’re outside on the lower east side streets drinking a dirty martini minus the noisy car honks. You don’t want to miss this venue layout of the open brink walls and smiling woman painting all over brink anchors whether you’re by the bar, downtown stairs or in the dining area, you can’t help but to take impromptu photo ops due to the vibrant art work. So reserve a table at this popular location and plan ahead as like many new York hot spots its not quite easy to get a last minute table here. This is one tick off the list, we look forward to taking you along as we check our NYC bucket list off together.
